How did Peter flog a pair of wellies for £10,000?

Peter on target

Peter was left speechless at his own celebrity charity clay shoot event – held July 7th, where a pair of Jimmy Choo Hunter wellies raised an incredible £10,000 in the auction. The boots, which would normally cost around £300 a pair, were not the only lot to generate more money than expected thanks to the talents of the

auctioneer on the day, comedian Johnny Vegas, who fell to the floor when the bidding reached £10,000!

Fellow TV Dragons, Duncan Bannatyne and Theo Paphitis, both joined the bidding on another popular item that raised £52,000 – a trip for eight people to the exclusive Skibo Castle in Scotland, including return flights on a luxury private jet.

In total, the star studded event for 120 guests at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, near Pangbourne, raised £180,000 for The Peter Jones Foundation, the charity Peter set up to give disadvantaged children a brighter future through either direct financial support or access to education.

Peter said:I’ve seen some amazing deals in the Den over the past eight series but nothing comes close to witnessing two pairs of wellies changing hands for £10,000. For once, I was lost for words

It was a really proud moment for me to see so many generous people coming together for an event to get behind my charity. We raised an amazing amount of money, every penny of which will go towards helping sick, needy and disadvantaged young people.”

The Peter Jones Foundation, established by Peter in 2005, provides support to children through two main channels of activity – Forgotten Children and the National Enterprise Academy.

Forgotten Children provides a means of support and funding for all those children in the UK that fall outside of the existing huge network of support provided by children’s charities and other organisations.

The National Enterprise Academy (NEA) is focused on nurturing the entrepreneurs of tomorrow through delivering pioneering education and learning to 16-19 year olds through campuses in Buckinghamshire, Manchester and Sheffield.

A number of luxury brands sponsored the Enterprise Shoot Challenge, including:
Grant Thornton; Pernod Ricard; Knight Frank; Porsche; American Express; NetJets; Sunseeker; Hunter; Coutts; and Red Letter Days.

Twenty five teams of four people took part in the clay pigeon shoot, followed by lunch and a charity auction.
